Thanks mirrordude, I'll check it out.
I just found rules for Advanced HeroQuest, and it may be just what I was looking for. For those who don't know, you randomly generate a dungeon using dice rolls. You roll to see what tile goes down (room, passage, etc), roll for features of the tile (monsters, doors, etc), and in the case of passages, roll for what's at the end (dead end, junctions, turns, etc). The dice rolls are compared against a chart in the rulebook. I haven't tried it with Ravenloft yet so I'm not sure if the game would still be fair and challenging for the heroes, but it may be just what I was looking for. And yes, Advanced HeroQuest has solo play variant rules. :)
