Page 4 of the Adventure Book states:
"Each player also draws a Treasure Card. Draw and discard until you gain a Treasure Card with an Item on it."
Are you sure you’re looking at the Adventure Book? Page 4 of my Rulebook says that, but page 4 in my Adventure Book just talks about the special components used for adventure 2: “Find the Icon of Ravenloft”.
