Yep, the monster damage tokens are curved on one side so that they will nicely fit the monster figurine.

So the damage is linked to the monster figurines, but when there are multiples of the same monster, the monster figurines are not linked to specific copies of those monster cards. If you kill a monster you remove the figurine that you struck and the next monster card of that type that would activate*.

*Activation is not actually required, even if the monster is somehow for example stunned, you remove the first monster card of that type from the Active Hero, or the next hero, or the hero after that and so on.
