Thank you Eric! That definitely ramps up the "evidence" that there should be two encounter cards drawn. We have always played it that way, and until this thread, I had never questioned it.

I don't think I agree that it necessarily answers the question of one card or two. It's possible he meant drawing two cards. But even if the players are just drawing one every turn they will still "draw additional encounter cards" because normally you wouldn't do that on every turn, just under particular circumstances.
