Other side of the coin here...CR is my favorite of the three games (soon to be four).
Here we have a win rate of about 40/60. It is very hard compared to the WoA's 80/20 and LoD's 100/0. But I appreciate the challenge. The white knuckled brutality really fits the setting of Ravenloft. I'd rather have an exciting loss than a boring win anytime.
On the topic of setting, I also feel CR has the best cohesive theme when considering all the components.
I think all three games can be used together to make some great adventures and some crazy random mixing combinations. But yes, all these games are very similar in component layout and exactly the same mechanically (aside from some new conditions, campaign, chambers, enclosed spaces, etc). Those few new elements (I think traps are done in a be way in ToeE) there isn't much different at the core experience. Obviously new characters, monsters, villains, treasures, encounters, etc.
